Solid Waste District

Locust Creek EDA – Solid Waste District

In 1992, the Locust Creek EDA Solid Waste District was established to address regional waste management and environmental sustainability. The district was created following Missouri’s Revised Statutes, Chapter 260, which provided a comprehensive framework for solid waste management across the state.

The mission of the Locust Creek EDA Solid Waste District is to work collaboratively with local communities, counties, and the private sector to develop and implement strategies that reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills. This is achieved through programs focused on recycling, source reduction, public education, and partnership-driven projects that remove waste from the waste stream.

The Solid Waste District holds quarterly meetings throughout the year, often in coordination with Locust Creek EDA Board of Directors sessions, ensuring alignment with broader regional planning and development initiatives.
